About Me

Growing up on the west side of Fresno county, my brother and I started a business mowing lawns and landscaping when we were in grade school. I recall moving wheel barrows full of mulch and pushing boulders around when I was 12 years old. I recall the satisfaction placing the finishing mulch layer on a new landscape even way back then.

After high school, I hung up the wheel barrow and weed-whacker when I went to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo to study Landscape Architecture. In 1992 I got my Bachelors of Science Degree and went on to work for a landscape architect in Clovis over the summer then for a landscape contractor (Creative Landscape Designs) in Visalia. After 5 years of working on designs for home owners, sitting next to them at their dining room table describing plants and steering them to their vision, I knew it was time to pursue my license in landscape architecture. I decided to go back work for Broussard Associates in Clovis and I worked for Terry Broussard for a couple more years. This time working for Broussard Associates gave me the experience requirement I needed to sit for the Landscape architect's license exam. From Terry’s office I went on to work for the State of California as a Landscape Architect working on native plant restoration projects, erosion control plans, and highway planting projects.

After about 7 years,  I decided to start Brad Cole, Landscape Architect. Recently due to the drought, I have been seeing a great deal of synthetic turf replacing real fescue. While synthetic turf it has its place, I feel that it is over used and not in balance with our responsibility to the earth and our future generation. For this reason, I hope to share with everyone that there are other options to thirsty fescue lawn. While I am available for consultation through-out California, my focus is providing services to Central Coast and the San Joaquin Valley.
